Inferior Quality Of Work & Not Honoring Warranty

I do not recommend Eastern Refinishing because they wont honor their warranty or do a quality job. The specifics are below.

Eastern Refinishing refinished two tubs for me a year apart (2020 and 2021).

Nick, the guy who performed the work, had to return twice for each tub for issues like coarse finish, sagging paint, and peeling thats three visits per tub. Currently, one tub is peeling and the other has slight rust showing through after only one months use, which Tom Cavileer, who runs the operation, originally assured me wouldnt be a problem. Nick was a nice guy, and I was patient and forgiving with all the return visits, including not being able to use my tubs and cleaning the dust from his sanding off of everything including the walls. I had even given Eastern a good review and recommended them to neighbors.

An appointment was made for Nick to return and fix the peeling and rust spots for the fourth time. Nick didnt show, call, or answer my calls or texts. Tom didnt return calls either but when I did reach him, he said he hadnt heard from Nick either, and would get back to me, which he didnt. After more unanswered calls to Tom, when he did pick up three weeks later, he said Nick had quit without telling anyone.

Tom and I had a friendly conversation where he said he had to hire and train someone, which would take a month or so. Tom told me to check back in a couple of weeks and that the warranty would be honored. As of today, its been five additional weeks and Ive left NINE friendly and respectful voicemails but no answer and no return call from Tom.

I can only assume Eastern has reneged on their warranty and their claim to a good product. I realize now I should not have hired Eastern because although Nick was local, Eastern and Tom werent, making it easy for Eastern/Tom to not honor the warranty or be obligated to do a good job.

The guy they sent out was a *** Tub caulk line looks like a 2 year old did it. Already cracking. Its been a week. Sent 3 emails... zero response. Contractor took paint off my walls.. did not tell me.. did not clean up after he was finished. Complained about how far away the job was. Total *** *** Again I tried to email Tom but Tom never got back to me. If they mess up your job apparently youre own your own. I just started to work for a woman who owns 3 apartment buildings. This one place was a test. You failed miserably. Your loss. Michael

I had Eastern Refining/North Shore Reglazing refinish my tub and tile surround in October 2019. I was close to the bathroom while Alex was working and noticed he barely sanded, if at all. Their state of the art ventilation system is a joke and consists of a rickety small window fan and leaving the bathroom door open so that the fumes can spread all over the house! After Alex left I closed the bathroom door because of the fumes. When I went in the next day there was a crack in the finish. I messaged Eastern Refinishing and they tried to blame me for the crack! The nerve of these people! The next day I noticed several small chips in the finish. This bathroom was not being used because the fumes were too strong but yet they blamed me for the chips/cracks on my newly refinished tub. I believe they did a *** job and did not prep the surface properly which caused the paint to crack/peel while drying. They have blocked me on Facebook and do not respond to my husbands texts or emails. They claim to have a 5 year warranty but they do not stand by it. The worst part is they somehow have tons of positive reviews on Facebook (which is how they got me) but I am not able to leave a review. I suspect they only allow positive reviews which means tons of more people are being tricked by these *** Buyer beware! This is THE WORST company I have ever dealt with. STAY AWAY

I agree they are the worst. I had work done on my tubs back in Oct2020 called to have them come back to do a re-repair as the enamel was coming off the tub again was told someone was going to come fix the issue as it has a 5 year warranty.

No one showed up and no one called the day of the appt.

They have since blocked me on facebook and wouldn't not respond to my text or numerous emails. They are a COMPLETE SCAM!!!!!!

Horrible job and worker (Adam Fischer) with horrible attitude

We had our shower refinished on 11/27/18 by Adam Fischer and I had to catch him before he left because he totally missed some areas in the shower. He did some of the areas and still missed a large area which I saw after he left.

I called him and left a voicemail which wasn't returned. I texted him and after a couple of texts, he responded and said he would come back the next time he was in the area. After several more calls and texts to him with no response, I called the company. The person that answered said he would send Adam back on 4/18/19.

He came and had a terrible attitude with my husband but my husband remained courteous to get the job finished. Adam seemed to be trying to frustrate my husband to have an excuse to leave. Adam went into my vanity and accused by husband of using bleach on the shower and said that was the reason for our issues. We knew not to use bleach in the shower from the instructions provided.

We use a product made by Clorox which do not have bleach in it. It is Tilex Daily Shower Cleaner. How dare he go in our vanity. That is equivalent to going into a person medicine cabinet.

Needless to say, the shower floor and a couple places on the shower wall are starting to peel again after one day of showering.

We have a two year warranty and it needs to be corrected. Adam must be a family member to the owner because I cannot understand how they continue to let someone like him work there with his lack of skills and lack of communication skills.

If he is the only person that they have that work in our area in Pennsylvania, I will ask for a partial refund. I do not want him back in my house.

Poor quality work refinishing a bath tub

I hired Eastern Refinishing two years ago to refinish my bath tub. It started giving us problems a few months after you left. I have called continuously over the years. They have attempted to fix the problem a few times with no success. They claim to have a five-year warranty but don't stand behind it. I spoke with Tom several times. He has said he would reimburse me but has never returned my call or followed through with his promise. You leave me no choice but to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney’s office. I am forced to leave negative feedback about your company just to warn people not to do business with you.

Project: Resurface my bathtub.

My bathtub was peeling badly because the company that did it

(miracle method) apparently screwed up and it only lasted

about 6 months. They refused to come back and fix it saying I did it myself without even looking at it. I called Tom at

eastern refinishing and he understood my problem and said

they would take care of it.

Comments: I am very happy with their work. So glad this kind of work

is available rather than tearing out the tub and tile.

John Venuti was the manager and sure knew his stuff.

John was knowledgeable and very neat. Would rehire but don't have

anymore bathtubs to do. It did take them almost a month to get to me but the price was right and they came thru when I was in a bind.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Charlie or should I should say the most rude disrespectful arrogant disgraceful unfriendly unkind unpleasant vulgar person I have ever spoke to. Your Administrative Staff "Tom" supposedly scheduled a tech but didn't actually schedule anyone. And his response is "he screwed up". Its not a matter of placing blame, its a matter of getting someone scheduled. And then tell me it will be another 2 weeks. Are you kidding me... After 5 hours of waiting and numerous calls to Tom, I finally get the "owners" name and phone number. What a waste of time to speak to that rude man. He calls himself a business owner. I have never spoke to or met a business owner who would call a customer crazy or tell them they are talking crazy for no reason. ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE and just DISRESPECTFUL. There is not one positive thing I can say about this company. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. CHARLIE, if that was even a real owner or just some warehouse person posing as an owner, you should be ashamed of yourself and I hope you don't speak to your mother or wife like that. We had a 4 inch bubble in the refinished bathroom wall (that was refinished 6 months ago by Tim) and called to schedule an appointment to repair situation. Urgently, we had to cancel our appointment the day of, and Tim the refinisher was rude to my husband on the telephone. My husband then contacted Charlie, the owner, and he was also rude. He called my husband a ***. (Who does this???) Only cares about the money and NOT customer service. Very unprofessional. Would not recommend this company to ANYONE. Customer service is NOT their thing. They do the work, then don't work with you.

I hope you all complain to the better business beaureau aboutbthis conpany. They are affiliated with the BBB and so people check to see their eating but if people don't complain to them they are viewed as a good and or safe company to use.

You must complain to the BBB as well to get the word out about your bad experiences with this or any company.

If they end up getting a rating of F due to complaints like yours, people will not use them . That's the purpose of the BBQ.

I used them also back in 2007 and my tub is also peeling. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

Eastern Refinishing is in Canada and the contractors are in the USA.

Charles Gaylor is a looney bird. STAY AWAY.

I had my tub refinished prior to these cons doing it!

It lasted almost 10 years without a bubble or scratch. These cons did it in September...the tub was never used until December.....by February 1st- it was peeling and bubbling!!!! After numerous calls and numerous cancellations to repair, they finally show up at the end of March. ....but only after constant harrasment that we must have damaged it and we would have to pay for it....WHAT???

THEY LEFT WITHOUT REPAIR......stating it would cost $75 and they refuse to come back! 2 months of a clean, responsible use and you are telling me its my fault! Like I said- 10 years I went with my last refinishing- NO ISSUES!

Will not honor their warranty.

The glaze will peel off after about 6 months because it's just a thin layer of paint. It's a total waste of money and i should have done the tub lining instead.

The company will not honor their 5 year warranty and will state that it occurred due to your neglect. The long term care on the warranty was ridiculous; you might as well never take a bath or shower again. They gave me the run around and didn't have a technician in the area for over a year. They will not contact you back.

You have to contact them over and over again. When I sent them the first picture they stated that they would send some over to fix it once they hire a technician in the area. 3 months went by and no word. I contacted them and they still haven't hired anyone.

Finally they did and asked for me to send them some pictures again because they deleted the last email. They then informed that it was my fault that the tub was badly beaten after 8 months from the first time I had contacted them.

Had to reschedule 3 times, my fault because we werent ready for them to come. I was yelled at by Charlie.

And hung up on.never have I been treated so disrespectfully. Dont use these guys.Charlie needs a dose of reality.

Poor customer service. I would rather pay extra somewhere else and get treated with dignity.

I am very disappointed with how my bathtub and tile looks 3 years later. I had everything glazed white but now the tiles are peeling and the tub is dingy and yellowish. I wish I never had this done. Total waste of money.

Owner deals with real issues by Bullying

I talked to the sales person about the condition of our bathroom to confirm that refinishing would be the RIGHT option given cracks. He said YES but turns out that wasn't true. He didn't document that our tile was badly damaged and the installer didn't didn't say a word when he came out. He just sprayed the bathroom and left areas looking terrible! Bottom line is they don't Repair tile and neglected to tell us that. So they sprayed over the tile and old calk rather than just removing it and that was it.. Here is the problem. We wouldn't have had it sprayed and would of made the proper corrections if they didn't tell us that it was "no problem". It gets worse. When we called to address it, the installer called back and was rude and then on the day he was supposed to come, called to move the appointment and got pissed when I couldn't be available at the NEW time he requested. Then...he just never rescheduled. Just ignored the issue Even worse, when we called to reschedule because they never did, the owner was a complete *** on the phone to my wife. She has an automatic recorder on the phone so I actually have the entire conversation recorded. Let's just say the guy ended the conversation with, a comment about women being a big problem for him ( he said this to my wife). What the *** does this have to do with women?! We weren't trying to be troublesome- just wanted to make this right and be respected by a company that we paid money to. Next time, I'll make sure to look at the reviews. This company doesn't know anything about integrity.

Rude & Unprofessional. Hung up on me. I had to call back.

I called to inquire about a $200 deposit for work that could not be done due to damaged tiles. "Charlie" asked me, "What happened?", & as I was answering, he interrupted me. I politely told him that he should let me finish. Well, he hung up on me. I called back immediately & he replied that he wasn't going to listen if I was going to "talk over him". Can you believe this? I wasn't yelling, abusive or profane. He asked me a question which I was in the middle of answering. I told him that usually people take turns speaking, that's how "adults" communicate. APPARENTLY, HE'S NOT AN ADULT! I told him never hang up on a customer. I'm not as upset about the $200 non-refundable deposit, as I am about "Charlie" hanging up on me. Wished they had told me at the outset. But, I am happy that at least "Charlie" didn't get me for $1,200 more! I KNOW NOW THAT EASTERN WILL NEVER GET A JOB FROM ME BECAUSE THEY ARE RUDE & I WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS CO. TO WHOEVER WILL LISTEN!

Do not use this company EVER

I don't know why I didn't check out this company first. All the reviews are right on. Just about a week ago I had my tub and shower surround done and a shower surround in the masterbath, and all the work is horrible. The tub is gritty, like sandpaper and has chipping. The surround of ceramic tile around the tub is chipping and dull, like someone painted on it with flat paint, the surround in the masterbath of ceramic tile is the same, flat, chipping and also tiles are covered in splotches like the tiles were not cleaned and have putty on them. Tiles, besides being dull throughout, have a white layer of powder on all. In addition, although they sent the same person out two times after the initial disaster I think it got worse. The 3rd time he pulled/removed what he said was silicon on the entire right side of the masterbath surround and caulked it with white caulk. The problem is he got the caulking all over the tiles surrounding the corner and it is such a mess as he appears to have then spray painted. In addition, the spray paint was not properly contained and has ruined wood furniture, coated and ruined plastic tv stand, ruined chest of drawers top, ruined a master headboard of solid wood. The spray paint also escaped the bathrooms and settled on my dark laminate floors. I say ruined because I even had a professional cleaner in and those surfaces could not be cleaned free of the spray paint debris which came out of the bathroom while he was working. Also, the contractor, Colin, did not properly cover surfaces even in the bathrooms, never mind that he didn't close off the work areas and the spray paint ruined the surfaces. In the bathrooms when he taped areas he did not tape enough so all the paint is ruined as the top portion has spray paint of white on a blue wall. Also when he removed the tape he removed paint from the blue walls. In addition, he did not cover the sinks or toilets and now those surfaces have spray paint (including the metal on each) which is not removable even after thorough cleaning. Then, as with others who used this company, I spoke to Charlie, the owner, who was so very rude, for example he said I must be picking at the finishes. He also said weird things like he doesn't like being lied to as it reminds him of Bill Clinton lying about sex with Monica Leiwinski (sp?). All very inappropriate and an attempt to make me go away (never mind plain weird). Sent them many pictures to prove the horrible work but do yourself a favor and stay clear of this company.
